چکیده

Abstract The Critical Shear Crack Theory (CSCT) has been developed since 1985 to assess the shear resistance of members without reinforcement and punching reinforced concrete slabs in a rational manner. main idea CSCT is that governed by development critical crack, its geometry kinematics. Recent tests with detailed measurements have confirmed force can be carried through crack combination aggregate interlocking, residual tensile strength concrete, dowel action longitudinal reinforcement, inclination compression zone activation crossed if present. On basis advanced constitute laws, all these contributions calculated as function kinematic. Simplifications resulting general formulations implemented several standards including fib Model Code 2010 and, recent closed-form format, second generation European Standard for Concrete Structures. generality models allows accounting materials cases, instance presence axial forces, fiber non-metallic reinforcements designing strengthening using techniques. This document presents historical framework theory, followed short presentation most up-to-date refined models. derivation solutions based on how it leads expressions format similar current Structures also discussed. Eventually, case punching, some developments are shown what refers capability mechanical model capture relationship between acting load, rotation deformation during loading at failure.

Background to the Model Code 2010 Shear Provisions - Part II Punching Shear

This paper outlines the theoretical background of the punching shear provisions implemented in the fib Model Code 2010 and presents a practical example of its application. It is the aim to explain the mechanical model that forms the basis of the punching design equations, to justify the relevance of the provisions and to show their suitability for the design and assessment of structures. © 2013...

Meniscal shear stress for punching.

AIM Experimental determination of the shear stress for punching meniscal tissue. METHODS Meniscectomy (surgical treatment of a lesion of one of the menisci) is the most frequently performed arthroscopic procedure. The performance of a meniscectomy is not optimal with the currently available instruments. To design new instruments, the punching force of meniscal tissue is an important parameter...

Strength of Footing with Punching Shear Preventers

The punching shear failure often governs the strength of the footing-to-column connection. The punching shear failure is an undesirable failure mode, since it results in a brittle failure of the footing. In this study, a new method to increase the strength and ductility of the footing was proposed by inserting the punching shear preventers (PSPs) into the footing. The validation and effectivene...

Recent Developments in Shear and Extensional Microrheometry of Complex Fluids

We review the design and construction of several new microrheometers designed to facilitate the study of non-Newtonian fluids using very small sample volumes (1-10 μl) and on length scales of micrometer dimensions. These devices enable both the steady shear and transient extensional rheological properties of complex fluids to be measured. The shear-rate-dependent viscosity and gap-dependent yie...
